According to Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis, a 12-year-old boy was shot and transported to a local hospital. The sheriff’s office updated their Facebook page to reflect the boy’s passing.

Shortly after the report was made, the sheriff’s office stated they arrested another 12-year-old student near school. Subsequent investigation by sheriff’s deputies revealed that he had fled the school shortly after the shooting began.

The youngster was eventually located by deputies hiding beneath a deck at a nearby property, which had been the subject of an earlier tip. As he was being hauled into custody, a firearm was found on him.

The sheriff’s office announced that he had been detained and was facing charges of murder, weapon possession during a violent crime, firearm possession on school property, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a juvenile.

It is still unclear what motivated the shooting, and authorities have yet to determine how the perpetrator obtained the weapon. The guys “were familiar with each other,” according to the sheriff’s office, therefore they think this was an isolated event.

Sheriff Hobart Lewis of Greenville County released a statement in which he expressed his “heartbreak” for the victim’s family and promised to pray for the teen accused of pulling the trigger and his loved ones.

In light of the tragedy, Lewis urged everyone to pray. “I can not understand what would motivate someone to do this to another human being and especially at that age,” he said. Thanks for reading our article Tanglewood Middle School Shooting a 12-Year-Old Was Fatally Shot …
