400-Meter Hurdles World Record

In 1974, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) officially recognised the first ever world record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.

American Sydney McLaughlin set the record in Eugene, Oregon, during the 2022 World Athletics Championships on July 22, 2022, with a time of 50.68 seconds.

400-Meter Hurdles World Record

Although the first recorded 400-meter hurdles race for women occurred in 1971, the event was not recognised as a separate sport until 1974.

The 400-meter hurdles is a hurdling competition in track and field. Olympic competition in the event began in 1900 for men and 1984 for women.

400-Meter Hurdles World Record: Men’s Karsten Warholm

The top men can complete the 400-meter hurdles in about 46 seconds, while the best women can do it in about 51 seconds. Karsten Warholm holds the men’s record with 45.94 seconds, and Sydney McLaughlin has the women’s record with 50.68 seconds.

In general, it takes three to four seconds longer for men to complete the 400-meter hurdles than for women (except for Sydney McLaughlin). The height of the barriers that males must jump over is 36 inches (91.4 cm), while those that women must overcome are 30 inches (76.2 cm).

In the world of hurdles prior to Sydney McLaughlin, it took years to shave fractions of seconds off records, and winning races did not always mean rewriting history.

As rapidly as she breaks records, this once-in-a-generation athlete destroys that mentality.

Karsten Warholm Net Worth

Karsten Warholm is well compensated thanks to his successful athletic career. Karsten won the gold medal and $37,500 in the United States in 2021.

The contracts, endorsements, and sponsorships from numerous businesses have been the primary source of his income.

Karsten is expected to have a net worth of $5 million in 2022. Money came to him courtesy of his championship and Puma sponsorship.

His Personal Life Matters

Karsten Warholm, a 26-year-old sports star, is widely known to be in a committed relationship with his one and only girlfriend, Oda Djupvik. His girlfriend has made it public that she beat cancer.

It appears like the two have been together for a long time, with the spark of their love still burning brightly.

Even though they were both asked in an interview shortly after Karsten’s 2016 gold medal victory if they were married, neither of them has ever acknowledged the rumour.

400-Meter Hurdles World Record: Women’s McLaughlin

The 22-year-old McLaughlin has now broken the record four times in the past 13 months. A world record of 50.68 seconds was set in the 400-meter hurdles race she ran on Friday at the championships.

She smashed her previous record by 0.73 seconds, an absurdly large margin for such a short race and a margin that, prior to McLaughlin, had taken the rest of the world 33 years to reduce.

Muhammad, not McLaughlin, ran a 52.20 in the 2019 U.S. championships in Iowa to break Yuliya Pechonkina of Russia’s 400-hurdles record of 52.34.

Sydney McLaughlin (USA) set the record for the 400-meter hurdles in 50.68 seconds at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA, on July 22.

Sydney McLaughlin’s Family and Private Life Introductions, Background, and Favorite Things

Originally from New Jersey, Sydney McLaughlin entered the world on August 7, 1999. Sydney’s interest with Athletics stems mostly from the fact that nearly all members of her family are involved in the sport.

Even in the 1984 Olympics trials, her father made it to the semi-finals. Her mother played till high school, her father played in college, and both of her siblings played as well. She had the genetic make-up for athletic success, for sure.
