How To Install Windows 10 on A New Hard Drive

1: Get Windows 10 Now!

The title says it all: upgrade to Windows 10. There are no more exits left to download the newest version of Windows or to update your current installation. It’s something you’ll need to purchase.

In this case, it would be best to visit the Microsoft online store, which is the site officially dedicated to such matters. A Windows licence, please. You can’t keep the windows open for longer than 30 days without it. A valid licence is required for uninterrupted use.

2: Make Windows 10 Installation Disks

Things used to be done in a very different way. The ISO system files are obtained from the website, and then burned on a DVD using supplementary software. The Windows operating system (let’s use Windows 10) is then installed using this DVD.

However, things are less complicated right now. The installation disc is not required thanks to Microsoft’s fantastic media creation tool. What you need to do is as follows:

  1. Microsoft’s media production tool is available for download and installation on your computer. Choose to make installation media and agree to the software licence terms and conditions. It might be anything from a USB device or DVD to an ISO file. Proceed with the next button.
  2. Input the desired language, Windows version, and computer architecture. To continue, please click the next button.
  3. Select the storage format, either the USB drive or the ISO file. In order to proceed, please click the Next button.
  4. Choose the external hard disc from the list and double-check that you have a copy of all the information on it. Similar to the method, all information would be structured. Proceed with the next button.
  5. After this, the system will begin downloading Windows 10 and any available updates to the bootable disc. In the long run, this would facilitate the setup of Windows 0.
  6. A notification stating, “Your USB flash drive is ready,” will show up on the screen as soon as the operation is complete. If you want to finish the process, click Finish.

3: Mount SSD/HDD and instal Windows 10

Now that you have Windows 10 on bootable media, such as a USB flash drive, the question of how to instal Windows 10 on a new, empty hard drive arises. Here are the actions you need to follow to find out!

  1. Join your gadget to the USB drive. In order to have the attached flash drive serve as the device’s boot medium, turn it on. In the event that your device is unable to boot, you should check the BIOS to see if it is configured to do so from a USB drive.
  2. The gadget will start up normally as soon as the USB disc boots. Pick the one you’re most comfortable with. Pick the specifics, such as the time and currency formats and the keyboard or input method you’ll be using. Please proceed by clicking the Next button.
  3. Click Install Now in the subsequent wizard.
  4. On the Microsoft website, enter the product key that came with your copy of Windows. If you don’t have a product key, choose that option instead.
  5. Simply clicking “Next” indicates your acceptance of the terms and conditions.
  6. Pick one of these options that appears in the next window. Let’s say you choose option two.
  • When you select Upgrade: Install Windows and preserve files, settings, and apps, the system partition will continue to store your current data and software. It should be noted, however, that it may only be used if an already-installed version of Windows is one that is compatible with it.
  • If you select Custom: Install Windows just (advanced), Windows 10 will be reinstalled from scratch, erasing all of your personal data and programmes. If you’re starting from scratch or installing Windows 10 on a brand-new hard drive, this is the option for you. Please ensure you have a recent backup of your files before proceeding.

7. Here you’ll be prompted to select the drive onto which Windows 10 will be installed. There are essentially two possible outcomes.

  • Unallocated space can be found in drive 0, so you’ll know if you’ve added a new drive. Select the drive you want to use for Windows installation, and then click Next to move forward with the setup.
  • If you have more than one hard disc, they will all be displayed here. Drive 0 would be the first drive, Drive 1 would be the second, and so on. Partition 1, Partition 2, etc. would appear if they have already been divided.

There is a fork in the road here; either instal Windows 10 on the original system partition or get rid of all the other partitions.

8. The setup procedure will begin and continue without any intervention from you.
