The simple screensaver is just one of the many ways in which Windows may be customised. You can spice up your break time by customising your desktop with an entertaining image, pattern, or piece of text.

Method 1: Launch The Screensaver From The Preferences Menu
Windows does not enable the screen saver by default. So, it’s possible that you’ll need to activate it from Windows’ settings if you can’t recall configuring it. To activate and customise the screensaver, do as follows:
- When you press the Windows key plus the letter I, you’ll be sent straight to the Settings menu.

- To permanently store your modified screensaver, select Apply > OK.
After the screensaver has finished, you can lock the machine by selecting the “On resumption, display logon screen” option. Furthermore, when you first activate the screensaver, set the waiting time to a minute or two so you can verify its functionality.

3: Set Your Computer to Sleep at a Different Time
If your computer goes into hibernation before the screensaver is activated, you will never see it. As a result, the screensaver won’t activate until after the machine has gone to sleep.
It can be fixed by adjusting the amount of time the screensaver is set to wait before turning off. Follow the aforementioned procedures to modify the screensaver’s idle time. Here’s how to change your sleeping schedule:

4: Ensure The Presentation is Setup Properly.

Select Mobility Center from the menu that appears when you right-click Start to disable presentation mode. Then, select the Stop Presenting option. Select the Projector icon to see further configuration options.
5: Start the Electricity Diagnosis Program.
You should use Windows’ built-in diagnostic tools if you were unable to locate the issue in the screensaver configuration. The screensaver problems may be resolved by launching the Power troubleshooter.
- To access Update & Security, select the menu item from the Start menu and click on it.
- You can access the Troubleshooter by clicking on the corresponding option in the left navigation.
- Select More Troubleshooting Steps.
- Go to Other Issues to search for and resolve them.
- Select Power > Troubleshoot currently active issues.
If an issue is found, the problem solver will automatically correct it. The next step is to ensure that the screensaver is operational.
6: Activate an SFC Scan
The screensaver shouldn’t cease working if you run the System File Checker and find any damaged or corrupt system files. To initiate a scan, open a Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow into the prompt.
Don’t interrupt the procedure by closing the Command Prompt window; it could take some time. The SFC will automatically replace any corrupted or damaged files it discovers.
7: Power Strategy Reset
A screensaver can fail to activate if the power settings are accidentally altered, as the screensaver is a power feature. The issue should be resolved by returning the power plan to its factory settings. In order to accomplish this, please follow these steps:
- Launch the Settings menu.
- Pick either Big icons or Little icons from the View by drop-down.
- Turn on the power.
- To revert to the plan’s original configuration, go to the Settings menu and then click Change.
8: Upgrade Your Screen’s Drivers.
You should upgrade the display driver if your computer’s screensaver freezes but otherwise functions normally. Windows updates typically include new versions of drivers for video cards, but it’s possible that you’re utilising a driver that isn’t supported by Windows.
To remedy this, open Device Manager and perform a manual update of the display drivers. How to achieve this is as follows:

- Add to the list of supported Display adapters.

Checking the manufacturer’s website for available updates is another option, but only if you want to ensure you’re installing the right one for your computer.

There’s also the situation when the screensaver functions properly until you try to return to your work and find that you can’t. If you have tried to use your mouse but had no success, it could be the mouse itself.
If you’re using a Bluetooth mouse, try taking it apart and putting it back together, or checking the battery. To ensure your mouse operates smoothly, you should also dust off your desk or mouse pad.
If the mouse is functioning properly and you still can’t get out of the screensaver, hit Ctrl, Alt, Del, and Esc all at once. Pressing the Windows key can also work.
