It’s a new season of Modern Love, the podcast about contemporary love stories. The first thing you’ll hear from us is our new host, Anna Martin, who wants to know: What song taught you the most about love when you were a teenager?

During a summer romance with a floppy-haired “rocker kid,” Lisa Selin Davis’ essay “What Lou Reed Taught Me About Love” describes how the song “I’ll Be Your Mirror” became the soundtrack to her summer romance. Afterwards, we hear from Times staff members about the songs that influenced them as teenagers and the memories that they carry — funny, empowering, nostalgic.

Send us a link to your favourite teen anthem.

We’d love to hear from you if this episode brings back memories of a song from your teen years. Message us at (212) 589-8962 or send us an audio recording at [email protected] with your song choice and story. An excerpt from your story may appear in a future episode, and we’ll add your song to our playlist on Spotify.

It’s important to know that by leaving a message, you’re agreeing to abide by the rules of The New York Times reader submission and giving us permission to use your name, voice and message in connection with the publication.

The Modern Love podcast is hosted and produced by ANNA MARTIN. Her middle name, “Ming Ai,” roughly translates to “understanding love” in Mandarin, and she believes that this gives her an advantage in landing the role. This American Life and Pop-Up Magazine are among the organisations she has worked with previously. Every day, she rides the Q train from her home in Brooklyn to Manhattan.

Anna’s father, a die-hard Billy Joel fan, introduced her to “Just the Way You Are,” the song that changed her perspective on love forever. Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s an action, and it teaches you to never dye your hair (which she has since renounced) (advice she has since taken).
