For 12 years, Biden was either the Chairman or the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, making him a key player in determining the direction of U.S. foreign policy.
Terrorism, nuclear disarmament, the Middle East, South and Central Asia, and the abolition of apartheid were all issues and pieces of legislation he spearheaded.
