Production stills from the upcoming musical adaptation of the classic 2006 film are available, and they feature the likes of Beth Leavel as Miranda Priestly, Taylor Iman Jones as Andy Sachs, Javier Muoz as Nigel Owens, and Megan Masako Haley as Emily Charlton.

Musical starring Kate Weatherhead and featuring music and lyrics by Elton John and Shaina Taub debuts on Broadway at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on August 7.

“In the studio, it has been thrilling to see him put my words to music in real time. His boundless enthusiasm for music and the warmth with which he welcomed me into our cooperation were the things that struck me the most. Our song “SEEN” is my personal favourite.

This is Nigel’s Act Two solo about the impact fashion had on his life and the importance of being recognised. That song’s melody by Elton has always moved me.”

The musical is based on the film of the same name from 2006 and was produced by Kevin McCollum (Avenue Q, Six) and John’s husband David Furnish under the banner Rocket Entertainment.

Dream job turns into horror for Andy Sachs when he starts working at Runway magazine as Miranda Priestly’s assistant. Andy’s professional success and personal happiness are at stake as she attempts to meet Miranda’s unyielding leadership standards and absurd demands.

Beth Leavel (The Prom), a Broadway great in her own right, replaces Meryl Streep as the fashion industry’s untouchable ice queen Miranda Priestly. Miranda Priestly! she exclaims. “It’s thrilling to give life to this formidable, convoluted, dangerous, and fascinating character in our new musical.

And by allowing Miranda to perform, no less! And the opportunity to deliver some of the greatest dialogue ever. And doing so while decked up in a stunning ensemble that gives you a sense of invincibility. There are a lot of great moments, but I think my entry was particularly memorable.”

On his role as Andy, Taylor Iman Jones (Head Over Heels, Groundhog Day) chimes in: “The chance to portray Andy has been one of the most exciting experiences of my life. It’s humbling to be a part of this amazing ensemble, and an exciting challenge to breathe fresh life into this classic tale.

Conclusion

For me, the most rewarding aspect of playing Andy has been experiencing the process of coming to terms with who I am. She is a young person learning to deal with the world and its obstacles;

she makes mistakes but ultimately finds her strength and learns that she is capable of more than she ever thought possible. And I believe that is a loving and significant lesson for anyone to learn.”
